Brüggen opens R&D Centre in Thiers
Brüggen opened its new Research & Development Centre at its plant in the French town of Thiers on 3rd October 2016.
The modern building houses Brüggen's French Research & Development Department. The production technology, which includes a test extruder, is located in a hall covering an area of over 150 m². A spacious conference room, a laboratory, offices as well as a storeroom for samples have also been set up in the building. The Centre meets the latest standards in relation to food safety and hygiene and has been planned to be particularly energy efficient, incorporating, among other things, state-of-the-art LED lighting.
This will be the future place of work for Brüggen's French product developers and process engineers. Moreover, the building provides jobs for colleagues from the other Brüggen plants in Germany, Poland and Chile. An international R&D seminar is scheduled for December in order to promote even closer collaboration, to share knowledge and to further optimise work processes in the future.
In addition to private label products, the development activities will also extend to industrial goods. In doing so, the main focus is always on individual customer requirements. The right taste, for example of chocolate or caramel, is greatly influenced by local preferences and regional differences. This new Centre will provide Brüggen's product development specialists with the ideal environment in which to take such differences into account in their work on new tastes, shapes, textures, ingredients and production processes.
The flagship of the Centre is its new test extruder. It is considerably smaller than its counterparts in the production hall, thereby enabling it to be used more flexibly. As a result, tests and appointments with clients and suppliers are possible at short notice, even outside normal production activities.
The R&D Centre was set up in Thiers to enable the company to adapt itself even better to the requirements of the southern European markets. There is a traditionally high demand here for new products and innovations.
The new Centre will now enable Brüggen to apply itself to understanding and satisfying the needs of its clients even more successfully.
