Autumn Oat Day 2025
A successful year for oat cultivation
Autumn Oat Day 2025 was dominated by a successful year for oats. Never before have so many farmers been active on our behalf, and the summer harvest reached record levels. Oats thus remain one of the most important raw materials in plant-based nutrition trends.
Marktentwicklung und Ernte 2025
The 2025 harvest yielded 912,000 tons of oats in Germany. Over the last two decades, oats have experienced a remarkable upswing and have become significantly more popular. Their positive properties have been scientifically proven and contribute to the strong demand. Oats have also successfully held their own in comparison to other plant-based alternatives such as soy or almonds.
Our regular quality and taste tests confirm that Brüggen oat flakes have a particularly harmonious aroma. This year’s harvest is characterized by very good hullability and a high kernel content. These are qualities that can compete with Finnish oats and are once again above the level of previous years.
For the coming years, a key objective remains to use oats in other product areas and expand its range of applications.
Origin and quality of oats
A large proportion of our raw materials come from Northern Europe and German cultivation. Promoting regional value creation and expanding high-quality cultivation partnerships remain important long-term goals in order to ensure short transport distances, high quality, and a reliable supply.
Impulses from research and practice
The Autumn Oat Day also offered exciting technical insights: speakers from agriculture, consulting, and science shared the latest findings on oat cultivation, variety development, biodiversity, and sustainable farming methods.
There was a particular focus on innovative approaches such as species-rich undersown crops and new variety concepts designed to boost both yields and ecological factors.
Outlook and thanks
During the joint discussion at the end of the event, it became clear how committed all those involved are.
We would like to thank our agricultural partners and speakers for their participation and look forward to continuing our collaboration and further developing this versatile raw material.
