Training With Vision
Exchange Across Continents
What happens when you swap your training place for twelve days in a city of millions in southwest China? Our apprentice Clara was able to experience just that – as part of an international project run by the Hanse School of Business and Administration in Lübeck in collaboration with the GuiZhou College of Electronic Science and Technology in Guiyang.
As a company, we were happy to give Clara time off work to support her on this special educational trip.
A Project That Opens up Horizons
The aim of the trip was to strengthen intercultural skills, promote entrepreneurial thinking and actively shape the exchange between Chinese and German trainees. As soon as they arrived, it became clear how diverse the cultures are and how much they can learn from each other. Clara describes how warmly she was received on site. She felt welcome from the very first moment, even though the surroundings seemed strange to her at first. Despite not speaking the same language, working with the Chinese students was exciting. Translation apps and mutual openness helped to build bridges.
On the campus of the Chinese university, the participants took part in workshops, workshop tours and a programming course. What was particularly exciting was that they developed business models in mixed teams, which were then presented to a jury in the style of an international start-up show.
Cultural Encounters That Stay With You
In addition to the project work, the focus was also on cultural exchange: a visit to the ethnological museum, a trip to a cherry blossom garden and even a public performance at the street festival, where the group spontaneously performed “99 Luftballons” on stage.
Clara remembers that the group was originally only intended to make a small contribution. The moment when she performed on a professional stage in front of a large audience was all the more surprising.
“I learned how much you learn about yourself when you open yourself up to the unknown.” – Clara
Promoting Education Means Enabling Development
For Clara, the trip was a personal and professional gain, and for us as a training company, it was a project that we support with full conviction. Because training doesn’t end at the factory gate. It starts there and sometimes leads all the way to China.
